Description

-snorts- He looks like a news anchor in his ID photo haha also while drawing him I forgot that the Design and Art courses were separate, so…apron. LOL well, he’ll be needing one anyways.

RP STYLE: script, sometimes lit and drawing (pchat) --> skype preferred, but google docs also works

side note: as much as I enjoy lit, I’m a fairly busy person because of my school projects, so this style of rp will be somewhat rare for me (unless you’re patient to wait for 30 minute responses ahahaa). Script is used the most. If you use pchat please tell me omg. Also, I’m an awkward butt AHAhaa

NAME: Sangye Tshering Okubo (nickname “Kubo”)

AGE: 18

D.O.B: August 30th

YEAR: 3rd

COURSE: Design

HEIGHT: 5’6” / 168 cm

GENDER: Non-binary (they/them, though they’re also ok with he/him)

TYPE: Uke (though willing to seke if their partner really wants it)

PERSONALITY: Open-minded | Friendly | Passionate | Perfectionist | Workaholic | Awkward

Growing up with traveling parents whose cultures contrast, Sangye learned to grow up with an open mind, especially when it comes to different ethnic cultures and their practices. Because of this, they’re friendly and have a rather approachable presence. Sangye is absolutely passionate. If you show them any wooden piece with a well-tinted varnish and a shiny, smooth finish, they will swoon.

With passion comes a strong work ethic, which is great for deadlines, but not always for health. As a designer and carpenter, Sangye is a perfectionist and a bit of a workaholic. Of course, they are like this with reason. A miscalculated measurement could mean the difference between a beautiful sounding violin and an off-tune one. Once Sangye has their mind on a project, they will isolate themself inside their studio until the building closes. Five hours of sleep is ok…or three. This kind of isolation and traveling childhood has made them a bit awkward when socializing with new people…but don’t worry, once you get to know them, their true inner dork will be revealed.

BIO: Ayako Okubo, a foreign corresponding journalist, traveled to Bhutan (a small country right under China) to help cover a magazine spread by a geographic magazine. There, she met Jigme Tschewang, a young, bright-eyed carpenter, who dreamed of moving to the city. There, the two fell in love and spontaneously decided to travel together, which luckily for them, worked out very well. Eventually, Ayako gave birth to Sangye. According to Bhutanese tradition, a newborn baby is not to be named until three days after birth, not by the parents, but by the town lama. Ayako respected Jigme Tschewang’s culture, and so the baby was named Sangye Tschering. On the flip side, Jigme allowed their son to hold Ayako’s surname for the same respect (Bhutanese people don’t have surnames).

Until they was high school age, Sangye traveled with their parents and was homeschooled by them. Sangye fell in love with woodwork with the influence of their father. When they and his family traveled to Europe, Sangye had wandered into a luthier’s shop and became head over heels into what they are currently studying. However, because of his constant travel, Sangye could not take apprenticeship. Since they was old enough to take care of themself, Ayako and Jigme Tschewang found a studio apartment for their child to live in, aiding them in both the rent and school tuition (with the help of a little scholarship…traveling is expensive).

Since they build the instruments, Sangye has basic skills in the cello, though more comfortable in the violin, since their primary instrument is actually the Chinese erhu (a skill they also picked up during his travels...gotta kill the boredom from those long car rides somehow). Ongaku requires at least basic skills in piano in order to be accepted into the academy. Sangye, before applying had no experience with the piano at all; luckily for them, their mother had also signed them up for classes a year before. They have been playing the piano for about two years now, but they're still very much a novice.

LIKES/DISLIKES:

+ traveling

+ warm clothes

+ meticulous craftsmanship (especially in woodwork, they’ll freak out, man)

+ dried fruits

- missing deadlines

- close-minded values

- combing his hair

- too much noise

RELATIONSHIPS: TBA

EXTRA:

- the blush on their face is a normal thing (you can look up Bhutanese/Himalayan people—some of them have the same thing…probably because of the cold weather?)

- they wear either a skirt or robe often, mainly in reference to their Bhutanese culture. Though they’ll also wear a dress if they feel like it.

- Sailor Moon is life 8C

- a luthier is someone who makes or repairs stringed instruments (I had to look this up haha). Need your instrument fixed? Just walk up to Sangye’s studio~
